Professor Şebnem Udum earned a BSc. degree in International Relations with a minor in International Economics at Middle East Technical University (METU), an MA in International Policy Studies and a Certificate in nonproliferation studies at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), and an MA and Ph.D degrees in International Relations at Bilkent University. She was a Research Associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (2002-2003) and a former chair and member of the International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN) at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). She is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations at Hacettepe University, Türkiye, and the former director of the Center for Strategic Research at the same institution.
